Pleats Please

Pleats Please

I used to think pleats were only for preppy school uniforms or my grandma, but that is so not the case these days.  Now, you can find pleated skirts in various colors, lengths, fabrics, and styles.  Honestly, I wasn’t sure how or what to wear with a pleated skirt at first.  So of course, like many, I turned to my “go-to” resource for inspiration… Pinterest!  I found so many ways to wear a pleated skirt that ranged from elegant to professional to casual.  It all depends on what you pair it with and how you accessorize.  The pleated ensembles that attracted my eye were pairings with a simple top, like a t-shirt or tank, with a statement necklace; or a tucked in button down shirt along with a cute pair of shoes.

It was my Back-to-School Night for my class and I was going for a look that was in between professional and casual.  I decided to pair my gray wrap front pleated midi skirt with a chambray shirt. I just rolled up the sleeves and knotted the bottom for a more casual look.  I completed the look with my ankle strap peep-toe Marc Fischer’s.

If you were like me, a little bit apprehensive about wearing a pleated skirt, don’t you worry.  There are a variety of ways you can style it to achieve the look you desire, whether it be chic, elegant or casual.  Just have fun with it! 😉
